Check out our new cool-weather bedding plants at the nursery. We have a great selection of pansies, violas, kale, cabbage, lettuce, and of course mums just in time for fall plantings.
Pansies are
probably the most popular grown and most recognized cool season plant. They are easy and undemanding to grow. They will bloom from now through spring. They have been known to poke their
faces up through the snow in milder winters.
Pansies come in either bright, solid colors or bi-colors and often with
face-like center markings.
Violas are
cousins to the pansies and look like miniature pansies. Violas are grown as annuals or short-lived
perennials. However, they will self-seed and give your years of color in your
garden. The tri-color violas are often
called Johnny-Jump-Ups with nickel-sized flowers marked with purple, yellow and
white
.
Ornamental Cabbage
and Flowering Kale are great plants that add a burst of color and life to
the fall garden or flower beds. Its
leaves come with beautiful variegation in pinks, purples, and reds that blend
well with changing fall foliage. You can
actually eat flowering kale and cabbage, but they're really grown for their
pretty leaves.
Mums are the
perfect late-season bloomer. When fall
arrives, it's hard not to regret the passing of all the colorful summer blooms
in the garden. But take heart, mums will replace those annuals with bright fall
colors. The blooms last for weeks and
they come in a wide variety of colors.
Add a few mums to your flower bed and pots to accompany your fall decor.
Thank you much for the post! You have really saved my lots of time. I’ve just bookmarked this blog site.
